Standing at the side, witnessing a marriage, I could see the whole-marriage thing in a very different way. Ain’t it amazing how God brings two people together? God is the one who has ordained marriage, not man. Its way more than just liking the person, its way more than just wanting to be with someone. It’s wanting to be there for each other not only in the good moments, but also the bad moments. It’s about helping each other up when the other is slipping. It’s being a shoulder for your spouse to lean on instead of you always wanting to lean on, having the humility and selfless love for each other. It’s about forgiving each other and getting along, when the other might have hurt you in a bad temper. Ain‘t it like how Christ loves us? It’s about spreading Christ-like love in and through your relationship. It’s about growing DAILY in the Lord together, leading each other closer to God, hand in hand, through thick and thin.
“With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” Ephesians 4:2-3
In our walk of faith, Life ain’t gonna always be like we’re on top of a mountain, we’re sure to come across some valleys on our way as long as we LIVE. Relying on your own instincts you would perhaps choose someone who may just lighten up your present valleys and later be of no support, but placing yourself in the hands of God, who sees the bigger picture, He will bring you to choose the one who would stand by you and support you through ANY valley you will face hereafter. It’s a divine relationship set up by God for the support of each other. It may get hard sometimes but all that’s required to work that relationship out for the good is, ‘selfless love’, the kind that only comes from Christ. Therefore the term, Christ-centered relationship y’all! It’s a necessity for a marriage to sustain.
I believe we need to rely on God to lead us to the one with whom He has destined for us to be united with and trust Him on His plans for us because He knows and wants the best for us.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
“Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4
Many a times, we are led by our physical wants, but God knows what’s best for you physically and spiritually. He knows your correct match! We just need submit to His will.
“What you might rationalize is good for you may not be better than the best that God has planned for you. “
Are you single? Wait on the Lord for the right partner. Have you been praying and waiting for what’s seeming like forever? I guess God is working on you to be ready for the next phase. ( I’ve written here partly about how God teaches us when our waiting seems to be prolonged and our prayers seem to be unheard.) Are you married? Have you made Christ the center of your marriage? If not, aim for a Christ-centered relationship and see the peace of God over rule your dwellings.
Good day, everyone!
